This Privacy Policy describes how Professional Funeral Planning ("PFP," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information through Funeral Bids. By using this platform, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree with how we handle your information, please do not use Funeral Bids.

1. Information We Collect

What we collect depends on whether you're a family or a funeral home.

2. How We Use Your Information

To match families with funeral homes in their service area — your contact details are only shared with a funeral home once an accepted bid occurs
To allow funeral homes to prepare accurate, itemized bids
To process payments (funeral home fees only — Stripe handles all card data)
To send service-related notifications (new bids, account updates, request status)
To verify funeral home licensing and platform eligibility
To investigate reported problems or disputes between users
To improve the platform and understand how it's used

3. When We Share Your Information

Families: Your contact information (name, phone, email) is never shared with any funeral home until you accept their bid. Before that point, funeral homes only see the details of your service request — not who you are.

We share information with:

Funeral homes — only after a family accepts their bid, and only the contact details needed to begin arrangements
Stripe — to process funeral home payments and subscriptions; Stripe has its own privacy practices governing payment data
Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, email delivery, geocoding for distance matching) — these providers only receive what's necessary to perform their function
Law enforcement or legal process if required by law, or to protect the safety or rights of our users or the public

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. How We Protect Your Information

Data is stored with access controls that restrict each account to only the information relevant to them (for example, a funeral home cannot see another funeral home's bids or pricing)
Payment card data is never stored on our servers — it is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor
Passwords are encrypted and never stored or visible in plain text
We limit internal access to personal information to what is necessary to operate and support the platform

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain account and service request information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain business records. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).

6. Your Choices

You may update your account information at any time by logging in and editing your profile
You may delete an active service request at any time before a bid is accepted
You may unsubscribe from non-essential email notifications

7. Requesting Access or Deletion

You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or request that we delete your account and associated personal information, by emailing support@funeralbids.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. Some information may be retained where required by law (for example, financial records related to completed payments).

8. Children's Privacy

Funeral Bids is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child without parental consent, we will delete it.

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and browser storage necessary for core functionality, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your session. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Funeral Bids after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
